RD Calculator

A recurring deposit is a fixed monthly deposit with a bank for a set term. This uses the standard Indian RD formula — monthly deposits, interest compounded quarterly.

An estimate before TDS and tax on interest.

Coming soon on the App Store Track every RD, not just one estimate.

Log the RDs you actually hold and see your real total, alongside FDs, gold, and everything else you're saving — in one simple ledger.

How it works

You pay in the same amount each month. Every deposit then earns interest for however many months it stays in the account, compounded quarterly the same way an FD's is — the first deposit earns for the whole term, the last earns for barely a month, and every instalment in between earns a different amount by maturity.

An example

₹5,000 a month for 3 years at 7% a year. You deposit ₹1,80,000 in total; the maturity value is about ₹2,00,700, so roughly ₹20,700 is interest — before tax.

Common questions

Is RD interest taxable?

Yes, fully, at your slab rate, with TDS once yearly interest crosses the threshold. The maturity figure here is before tax.

RD or SIP?

An RD is fixed and guaranteed, no market risk. A SIP into an equity fund has higher expected long-run return but the value moves with the market. Compare both on this site.

Can I miss a month?

Most banks allow it with a small penalty; repeated misses can lead to the RD being closed. This calculator assumes every instalment is paid on time.
